DIY SMART ASSISTANT
I’ve fully bought into Google’s Assistant.
So when I heard about their AIY initiative (create your very own DIY Google Home from a Raspberry Pi), I tried to buy a set.
Only to find they were only available in the US - fuckit.
So straight onto eBay. Luckily I found the only guy in London selling a kit, for a 300% mark up of course.
And so, even longer story short, I got the kit…
First off, I’m a sucker for cardboard engineering - to top marks Google.
Opening the box I found everything I’d need (minus the Raspberry Pi) all tucked away in neat sections.
Click, squeeze, tighten and flex…
…and the hardware was complete.
Again, I love this cardboard.
Build complete, next came the part I’d been most excited about - giving it a brain.
Hooking the hardware up to Google AI cloud system was the main reason for buying the kit, figuring out how all this works has given me a whole new understanding of how our gadgetry leverages A.I.
